WASHINGTON—The National Governors Association (NGA) today released the following statement on Congress’ reauthorization of the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) for six years:
“The nation’s governors thank Congress for passing a six-year reauthorization of CHIP and thereby providing certainty to states and the nearly 9 million children and families that depend on this critical program.
Governors appreciate that this reauthorization ends the strain on state budgets created by the lapse in CHIP funding. And we look forward to quickly implementing this CHIP reauthorization so that states can assure families that the health care of their children is no longer at risk.”
