Renee Antoine
Legislative Director
Renee Antoine is the Legislative Director for Public Health and Disaster Response at the National Governors Association. Her portfolio has jurisdiction over a broad range of areas including Disaster Preparedness, Emergency Response, Homeland Security, Armed Forces, Cybersecurity, Healthcare, Human Services, and Maternal Child Health.
Her background consists of extensive leadership positions across the nation. Prior to joining NGA, she held the appointment of Executive Director for the Louisiana Governor’s Office of Women’s Policy in the Edwards administration. She led integration of research, legislation, and best practices for state departments with oversight over health, human services, economics, criminal justice, disaster relief, and education. Antoine also served as Senior Policy Associate at Georgetown University in DC. She directed national training programs and provided technical assistance to states, tribal nations, and U.S. territories implementing federal SAMHSA grants.
Her additional past roles include State Director for Maternal Child Health with March of Dimes- Louisiana and Program Manager for HRSA Federal Healthy Start- Oregon. Antoine has a breadth of additional experience spanning 15 years in provider training, consultation, community engagement, public speaking, evaluation, and infrastructure building.
She was honored as a Louisiana Forty Under 40 recipient in 2022. As a bayou state native, she obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from Louisiana State University. Her research path continued in epigenetics at the University of Iowa and culminated in Developmental Psychology at the University of Virginia. In her spare time, she enjoys international travel and life with family.
