Governors Commend Congress and the President for Heeding Call to Reopen Government and Compromise

Following the president’s announcement that an agreement has been reached to open the government and pass a three-week continuing resolution, NGA chair, Montana Governor Steve Bullock, and NGA vice chair, Maryland Governor Larry Hogan, released the following statement:

“We are grateful that the president and Congress listened to governors and negotiated a short-term agreement to reopen the doors of shuttered federal agencies while they find a long-term compromise on the issues that currently divide Washington.

“As negotiations move forward, governors stand ready to help our federal partners ensure long-term federal funding certainty for states and for all Americans.”
