Alexis Howard

Legislative Associate

Alexis Howard serves as a Legislative Associate in NGA’s Office of Government Relations supporting the Economic Development and Revitalization Task Force. In this role, she advocates for Governors’ federal priorities on infrastructure, transportation, the environment, water, energy, land management, economic development, taxes, technology, and more.

Prior to NGA, Alexis completed multiple internships with Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, where she ensured responsive constituent services, staffed Governor Whitmer at events, and supported her federal affairs team. Prior to her time in Governor Whitmer’s office, she spent multiple summers as an intern with Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin providing constituent services through the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Alexis is a native Michigander and holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan in Public Policy with a minor in Spanish. In her spare time, she plays trumpet in a local band and is training for her first marathon.
