Mackenzi Matthews
Legislative Associate
Mackenzi Matthews serves as a Legislative Associate for the NGA’s Office of Government Relations Education, Workforce and Community Investment Task Force. Before moving to Government Relations, Mackenzi was a Policy Coordinator for the NGA’s Center for Best Practices Children and Families and Postsecondary Education policy divisions.
Prior to joining the NGA, Mackenzi was the Legislative Affairs Dunn Fellow for Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, where she tracked and analyzed state legislation and provided administrative support to the Legislative Affairs team. Prior to the fellowship, Mackenzi was a committee clerk for the Office of the Clerk of the Illinois House of Representatives and an intern for Senator Dick Durbin.
Mackenzi attended the American University where she received her master’s degree in political science with a concentration in American politics and the University of Illinois Springfield for her bachelor’s in political science and public policy.
