Governors urge Congress to pass a bipartisan package that will give states the tools and flexibility they need to continue to fight COVID-19 and support economic recovery.
WASHINGTON – Today, National Governors Association Chairman Governor Asa Hutchinson of Arkansas and Vice Chairman Governor Phil Murphy of New Jersey released the following statement regarding the bipartisan $10 billion COVID-19 Supplemental Appropriations package.
“We commend the Senate for their work on a bipartisan agreement that will provide $10 billion to develop and procure vaccines, therapeutics, and other supplies to ensure we have the tools necessary to continue to respond to this pandemic, without pulling from State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds, which states have already factored into their Fiscal Year 2023 budget plans.
“In addition, we applaud the inclusion of the bipartisan proposal offered by Senator John Cornyn and Senator Alex Padilla, which provides additional flexibility for states and territories to spend their allocations of the State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds on infrastructure improvements and disaster relief.
