State Revolving Fund Advocacy
In September 2023, Co-Chairs Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear and South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster sent a letter to Congressional leaders urging them to address the adverse impact of Congressionally Directed Spending on the Clean Water and Drinking Water State Revolving Funds (SRFs). NGA remains engaged with Congress on this issue and continues to advocate for a solution that would protect federal water infrastructure funding for states and territories.
Congressional Briefing on Environmental Protection
In April 2024, NGA’s Economic Development and Revitalization Task Force and the Environmental Council of the States (ECOS) hosted a Congressional briefing to educate Congressional staff, Administration officials, and other stakeholders on the environmental priorities of states and territories. The panel highlighted the Task Force’s 2024 federal priorities, specifically, safeguarding water resources by protecting the Clean Water and Drinking Water State Revolving Funds (SRFs), prioritizing the needs of states and territories in the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) 2024 reauthorization, and addressing the threats of forever chemicals (PFAS).
