About
Kevin Reynolds was born in Osceola, Iowa. He grew up on a 500-acre family farm in southern Warren County and developed a lifelong passion for the outdoors.
Mr. Reynolds earned a bachelor’s degree in agronomy from Iowa State University. Following graduation, he worked in the area of soil and water conservation as a county resource planner for Pottawattamie County. He enjoyed a long tenure with the U.S. Department of Agriculture as a soil conservationist and district conservationist, where his career responsibilities took him to Mount Pleasant and Leon, Iowa. After 36 years of dedicated public service, he retired in March 2017.
Mr. Reynolds made history as Iowa’s “first” first gentleman when his wife, Kim Reynolds, was sworn in as Governor of Iowa on May 24, 2017. Serving in his role as first gentleman, Mr. Reynolds is keenly focused on preserving and enhancing Terrace Hill (the Governor’s Mansion) for future generations of Iowans to enjoy.
An avid outdoorsman, Mr. Reynolds cares deeply about soil health and water quality, and he is actively engaged in educating Iowans of all ages about the state’s many treasured natural resources.
The first gentleman and his wife, Governor Kim Reynolds, met in high school, and they were married on April 3, 1982. They have three daughters (Jennifer, Nicole and Jessica) and several grandchildren.
