Mike Pence was sworn in as governor of Indiana on January 14, 2013.
Pence was born and raised in Columbus, Indiana. He graduated from Hanover College in 1981 and earned a juris doctor degree from Indiana University School of Law in 1986. In 1991, Pence was named president of the Indiana Policy Review Foundation, a foundation in Fort Wayne that exists to conduct and circulate research on Indiana issues at the state and municipal levels.
He started a business to produce a statewide radio show and in 1994, Network Indiana syndicated his show statewide. “The Mike Pence Show” aired on 18 radio stations through September 1999. From 1995 until 1999, he also hosted a Sunday morning television show in Indianapolis. Pence was elected to Congress in 2000 and earned a sixth term in November of 2010.
Pence and his wife Karen have been married since 1985. They have three adult children, Michael, Charlotte and Audrey.
