Now that the historic bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act has been passed by Congress and signed into law by the President, Governors are already moving forward on a generational mission to renew America’s functional systems, including transportation, the electrical grid, broadband, water infrastructure, cybersecurity and environmental remediation.
Governors of both parties applauded Congress’s action and are beginning the work that lies ahead.
The effort will fundamentally change and improve everything Americans use on a daily basis: airports, roads, bridges, freight and passenger railroads, water systems, ports, and internet access. These systems will be repaired where needed and improved for future generations.
As Governors tackle this mission project by project, they will also be working to solve larger issues, such as traffic congestion, energy demand, environmental problems, and supply chain knots. In addition to providing thousands of good jobs and catalyzing additional economic activity, the effort will improve lives and increase productivity.
The U.S. Department of Transportation released state-by-state fact sheets that highlight how the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) will deliver for communities across the country by repairing roads and bridges, improving transportation options, building a national network of chargers to accelerate the adoption of EVs, upgrading our nation’s airports, and ports.
