Washington D.C. — National Governors Association Education, Workforce and Community Investment Co-Chairs Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon and Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers released the following statement urging Congress to pass the bipartisan A Stronger Workforce for America Act.
“As Governors, we recognize the need for the public workforce system to be rejuvenated and made stronger so that more Americans have an opportunity to compete in today’s economy. That is why we urge Congress to pass the bipartisan A Stronger Workforce for America Act.
“This legislation will help equip Governors with the tools necessary to reorient our respective workforce systems to better meet the needs of our employers and workers.
“Specifically, Governors welcome the added discretion and flexibilities over statewide funding, the ability to steer local area redesignation, new dedicated funding for Individual Training Accounts and Youth Apprenticeships, new pilot program authority to consolidate Title I funds into a single grant, and enhancements made to streamline service delivery through the One-Stop Delivery System.
“With little time left in the 118th Congress, now is the time to reauthorize the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act and pass the A Stronger Workforce for America Act.”
